Tip: Check Comprehension

Asking “do you understand?” is not the best way to check a student’s comprehension.   As a teaching tip, some students will simply nod their heads and say “yes” because they think that’s the answer you want to hear. In order to check whether the class has fully understood your instructions, you may want to ask one of the students to repeat the directions back to you or to give you an example.
